The Village of Chatham, in partnership with the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA), is again offering a scholarship competition program for eligible high school seniors. Each eligible applicant is asked to submit an application and an essay of 500 words or less addressing their choice of one of four utility-related questions (see attached questions sheet).

The Christmas Tree Pickup will be by the Village Contractor and coincides with the monthly branch pickup. It will begin on Monday, January 6, 2020. Please have all trees placed at curb side by Monday, January 6, 2020. If you miss the January pick up the next will be the first full week of February. Trees cannot be in a bag and must have all ornaments, lights, tinsel and tree stands removed.

THE VILLAGE OF CHATHAM wants this Halloween to be as safe and as enjoyable as possible for those taking part; The Village is recommending to the parents of children taking part in the trick-or-treating that Halloween be observed on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 4:30 pm. to 8 00 pm. and due to bad weather, that is scheduled for this evening we are allowing trick-or-treating to also be observed on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4:30 pm. To 8:00 pm. those families who want to be visited by the Trick-Or-Treaters leave their porch light on.

The Village had leaf bags left over from the last Spring Pickup. We will make them available on a first come basis beginning the morning of Nov. 4 outside of the Village Police Station. A limit of 3 bundles of bags may be picked up per household. Containers for yard waste may be either a reusable container clearly marked “Yard Waste” or a paper or other biodegradable bag with a capacity not to exceed thirty (30) gallons. The Village’s Contractor will pick up an unlimited-number of containers at curbside. For curbside pickup, all containers shall be placed near the street in front of the residential unit. It shall be the responsibility of each resident to see the containers are placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. on the designated collection day Monday December 2 and Monday December 16. Curbside refers to that portion of the right-of-way adjacent to paved or traveled roadways. Bags shall only contain leaves. Any bags containing Grass Clippings, Feces or Garbage will not be picked-up. Nothing herein shall limit residents of the village from disposing of yard waste at their own expense in accordance with their respective waste haulers' rates and procedures.
